Urethral Applications

The noble metal alloy Bactiguard® coated latex urinary catheter has been proven to prevent urinary infections in many clinical investigations over the years. The bulk of the published clinical trial data includes close to 30 000 patients plus well over 50.000 patients in cohort studies. The average reduction of catheter associated urinary tract infection of about 30-40% can be directly related to the unique properties of the Bactiguard® coating of urinary catheters1,2,3,4,5.

Blood Applications

A clinical study of Bactiguard® coated central venous catheters has also been carried out. It was concluded that the coating significantly reduced the incidence of infections by approximately 50% after thirteen days6.
