Bactiguard won a tender, to supply urinary tract catheters to the Swedish region Halland. This means that Halland is able to start to purchase Bactiguard’s Infection Protection Foley catheters from 1 October 2016.

”In the past year we have been working methodically to demonstrate the value of our technology and our infection prevention urinary catheters”, says Nina Nilsson Marketing Director at Bactiguard and continues:

”We have noticed an increased interest in including products for infection prevention in the procurement process. The region Halland now follows the regions in Kronoberg, Blekinge and Kalmar, which have undergone the same process earlier. By investing in preventive actions, Halland experience an effect and a reduction in healthcare associated infections and we hope that more regions will follow”.

Halland takes the lead for a zero-vision against healthcare associated infections. The region is now taking another huge step towards a more cost-efficient and safe healthcare by including a specific category for infection prevention in the procurement process. This will greatly improve patient safety since healthcare associated infections are a major threat when more and more bacteria become resistant to antibiotics.
